This Election Insights center shows you how many people are talking about each of the presidential and vice presidential candidates. To view these stats further, you can break down the numbers by state, gender, age and time frame. The website also offers many different visuals to plainly show the numbers. The easiest chart to understand is the map of the U.S. that colors each state either red or blue depending on which candidate is talked about most in each state. I would bet that during any other week the numbers would be fairly even but because the RNC is happening right now there are only six blue states. To go along with the map, there are a few different charts to illustrate the conversation breakdown by gender and age. The communication feature is also there where users can make comments and have conversations on the election hub itself. The RNC has also taken advantage of social media this week, not surprisingly with Twitter in the forefront. Under the hashtag #GOP2012, the social networking site is gathering photos and conversations about the convention in order to measure the candidates’ social impact. Google is another major player at the RNC, where they are advertising their social network, Google+. They are representing themselves as a nonpartisan figure at the convention and are planning on being at the DNC next week. Google has major swag at the RNC with their area set up with huge comfy chairs, free WiFi, and space to charge your electronics. They are promoting Google+ by having knowledgeable people from news outlets like The New York Times and NBC on the social media site to chat with viewers. from BostInno http://bostinno.com/channels/social-media-the-rnc/ Breakdown: Social Media Workflow, Process, Triage

Needs: Companies desire to be efficient –not having a workflow puts company at risk Like our bodies, cities, and corporations, all complex organisms have a natural process and order that helps to reduce inefficiencies and increases the end goals. The Future State of Workflows: I interivewed two experts to find out their perspective on the future of workflows.
Summary: Don’t Under Estimate the Work Required to Create and Rolllout a Social Workflow. The end result of developing a simple Social Media Workflow doesn’t reflect the herculean effort of organizational navigating, buy-in, and change that may occur in developing the process. Be sure to start with business goals, obtain a clear sponsor, and approach business units by asking –not telling– how they can get involved. Ensure your existing processes, software, and customer experience is augmented, and not replaced by this process. While we’re going to lay the foundation out now in a manual manner, expect that future software systems to correctly anticipate these systems and automate based on data lead programs. The company counted more than 88 million authenticated streams during the games, and its tech is behind apps for other networks like ESPN and Cartoon Network. Now it says it can make things better for cable companies and their customers to get viewing on mobiles with Adobe Pass 2.0, which includes technology like automatic authentication, which was tested on Comcast and Cablevision customers during he Olympics. We tried it then and it couldn't have been easier, logging in while connected to your home network flips the switch based on IP address or MAC address, and then it worked at home or on the go, no password necessary. Another feature rolling out is "Free Preview" which lets viewers watch before they're finished logging in, while a Server Side API on the way should open up access to more apps on more devices. We're not sure if that's enough to stem the tide of cable cutting, but if it means more and easier to use viewing even when we're not in front of the HDTV, then we're for it. This is all a part of Adobe's "Project Primetime" which it expects to roll out in full across iOS, Android, Windows, Mac OS and other platforms later this year, check the blog post linked below and video after the break for more details. Simple Password Encrypted Files w/ GnuPGVimeo adds advanced uploading features, custom thumbnails and Dropbox integrationLast we heard, Vimeo was the one being integrated into a couple of Microsoft's photo and movie-making products, but now it's the video giant announcing a service integration of its own. Of course, as you can see above, we're talking about the recently announced Dropbox synthesis -- which will allow Vimeo users to upload vid content straight from the cloud locker behemoth, as well as save all original files to their account. Furthermore, Vimeo's also added new advanced uploading features that essentially allow uploads to be resumed, plus the ability to choose any frame and set it as a thumbnail -- a nice addition to those soundtrack tools from earlier this year. You can give these a try yourself now; in the meantime, however, we recommend checking out Vimeo's fresh feature-touting visuals after the break. Twitter rolls out ‘certified products’ to anoint developers it supportsTwitter continues to distinguish between apps it approves of and apps it doesn’t with Wednesday’s roll out of a “certified products” program, a way for third-party developers to get Twitter’s stamp of approval. No surprise to anyone who has watched Twitter of late, the company is supporting apps that support Twitter for business and Twitter for analytics. This summer, the developer community has been consumed with the question of which apps using the Twitter API will keep the company’s approval and survive, and which will be shut down for conflicting with Twitter’s interests. Twitter first began to distinguish between apps with its August blog post, laying out its priorities in four quadrants and placing an emphasis on businesses over consumers and analytics over engagement. “We aim to certify the products and services that make Twitter more valuable to businesses, encourage their use of Twitter, and bring Twitter to new users,” the company notes in its post on the requirements for certified products. The company has been steadily moving to monetize its product and become more brand-friendly this summer, so this support for business-oriented apps make sense. In the blog post released Wednesday, Twitter explained that right now, certified products can come in one of three categories: engagement products, analytics products, and data reseller products. The company has released guidelines for becoming a certified product, and encourages brands who fit the requirements to apply. A Twitter spokeswoman said the company believes that the certification will provide those brands with a greater platform for reaching new customers, and those customers a better method for picking the best third-party apps that meet their needs. The company has launched with 12 partners, including companies Topsy and HootSuite, but said that number can grow as more brands apply and meet the requirements. Twitter Certified Products Program - Open for BusinessToday we are launching the Twitter Certified Products Program to bring some of the most innovative products and services from Twitter developers to businesses and organizations that need them most. Thanks to the Twitter ecosystem, brands, publishers, nonprofits, governments and others have products that help them engage with and understand their audience so they can flourish on Twitter. With this program, we’ve identified areas where we see huge demand for innovation on Twitter’s platform. from Twitter Developers blogs https://dev.twitter.com/blog/twitter-certified-productsTweet Marker Plus rebranded as Watermark, adds App.net support
Developer Manton Reece is the brain behind Tweet Marker Plus, a US$5 monthly service developed to index tweets and provide search and filtering tools. Now Reece is rebranding the service as Watermark in a move to distance it from Twitter and syncing. According to a post about the rebranding on Macstories.net, Reece is distancing Watermark from Twitter due to the controversy over the changes to that service's API and its strained relationship with third-party developers. While Watermark continues to use the same infrastructure and provide the same functions, it's now a "client and archive tool" that continues to work with Twitter apps that have been designed to support it and that can expand outside of simple Twitter support. Watermark has built-in support for Dalton Caldwell's App.net, a new real-time communication service currently in alpha and priced at $50 per year. Watermark includes an App.net option which pulls in posts from App.net friends and archives all of your posts. App.net is still lacking in many features, but Reece's support of the nascent platform is a good sign of what to expect as more developers embrace the API and as App.net evolves. Google+ Launches Tools for Businesses
The tools are available for free through the end of 2013, but users will then need a paid subscription to Google's cloud-based software for businesses, Google Apps, for continued access. Here's a rundown of the new features: Private sharing. When you create a post, you can now label it as "restricted." This will limit its visibility to those inside your organization (plus a few external partners if you so choose), and can't be re-shared with anyone on the outside. More About: Google, google apps |
